Worship Leader | Chanhassen

Position: Worship Director | Living Christ Lutheran Church, Chanhassen
Reports To: Senior Pastor
Job Overview:
The purpose of this role is to create transformative and spiritually uplifting worship at Living Christ that honors God, engages the worship participants, and encourages discipleship within the worship teams. This person will lead and oversee the musical and artistic aspects of our worship services, curating a diverse range of songs and musical elements that resonate with our congregation's values and beliefs. This involves collaborating closely with vocalists, musicians, and technical teams to ensure seamless and engaging worship services.

Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Recruit and enlist musicians (instrumentalists) for regular and holiday worship services from among the congregation and outside of the congregation for both traditional and contemporary worship.
2. Recruit and enlist substitute organists to play for the traditional worship service when organist/accompanist is absent.
3. Develop and enlist members of a children's choir (Spirit Singers) to engage in weekly practices at an agreed upon time, schedule and participate with this choir in worship at least four times per year.
4. Participate in the development of the Sunday School Christmas Program music which would include rehearsals and presentation of the program.
5. Manage the music program budget and purchase needed music and items as approved through the Senior Pastor

Potential Responsibility Areas:
1. Develop, recruit, and enlist members of instrumental groups (Bell choir, brass ensemble etc.) with additional compensation for rehearsals and performance if and when choirs play as is mutually agreeable with Senior Pastor.
2. Substitute for lead pianist/keyboardist with ''reJOYce" when mutually agreed upon with pianist and senior pastor. When participating as lead pianist additional compensation will be made. ·

Qualifications:
Faith: A strong belief in the mission and values of Living Christ and an active faith walk with Jesus.
Strong musical skills: The ability to play an instrument, sing, and lead others in worship is essential for this role.
Theological knowledge: A strong understanding of Christian theology and worship is important for this role.
Communication skills: The ability to clearly and concisely communicate with vocalists, musicians, and technical teams is important.
Empathy: The ability to understand and appreciate the needs of others is important for creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Problem-solving skills: The ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely and efficient manner is important.
Teamwork skills: The ability to work effectively with others is important for this role.
Flexibility: The ability to adapt to change and meet the needs of the congregation is important.
