Free Session: "Giving the Gospel Free Course: A New Wave of Religious Freedom"

Everyone is invited to a free informational session entitled "Giving the Gospel Free Course: A New Wave of Religious Freedom" on Sunday, October 7th, 3:00 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Northrop.

Until recently, it appeared that our most cherished freedom, the ability to freely exercise our Christian faith in daily life, would soon be drastically restricted. Over the course of the past year, however, there has been a series of extraordinary decisions from the Supreme Court which promise to preserve and even enhance our ability to live-out and share the Gospel publicly. Rev. Fredric Hinz, the LCMS Public Policy Advocate for Minnesota will detail these exciting developments and suggest concrete ways in which each of us can help build on this momentum. Please come and be encouraged! He will speak about how your vote can make a difference in directing government funding to help pay tuition at Lutheran schools.

Mayer Lutheran High School Addition Dedication

Mayer Lutheran High School will dedicate its new, 43,000 square-foot addition on Sunday, September 16 at 4:00 pm at the school’s new north entrance along State Highway 25 in Mayer.  After a brief ceremony and ribbon cutting, the school will host an open house with a reception.

The Mayer Lutheran High School addition includes a new entrance on the school’s north side, additional parking, an expanded office suite, a student health suite and athletic training room, student commons area with fireplace, increased accessibility throughout the campus, and a field house complete with four full-size basketball courts and room to host tournaments.

“The dedication event on September 16 will be a terrific time for our community to see the new building and tour the existing campus to learn more about the wonderful things happening at Mayer Lutheran,” explained John Trocke, the school’s Board Chair. “While our facility is a tremendous asset, getting to meet the Mayer Lutheran staff and students at the open house will show just what a precious asset our school is to our region.”

“We are so blessed to be able to improve our campus for our students and our guests,” shared Executive Director Joel Landskroener. “We have needed this additional space for a long time and the final product has certainly exceeded our expectations. It is just beautiful and are grateful for the many supporters who made it happen.”

LERT Training September 29

Natural disasters continue to plague our nation at a rapid and unprecedented pace. Much help is needed on many fronts, even a year or more after the incident has passed. Work continues in Southern Texas under Lutheran Disaster Response ministries a full year after Hurricane Harvey ravaged the area, and hurricane season is again upon us.
Woodbury Lutheran Church is offering a day-long LERT training facilitated by LCMS Disaster Response on Saturday, September 29, from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. at their Valley Creek Campus in Woodbury. This training is modeled on FEMA training for disaster preparedness.

Participants will become confident in being ready to answer the call to respond, and will receive a certificate of participation, a workbook, volunteer credentials and a safety vest.

Morning coffee, lunch and a short afternoon break will be provided to all registrants. We are sorry we cannot accommodate special dietary requirements and ask that you bring your own food if you have dietary needs such as gluten-free or vegetarian.
