InFaith Community Foundation, formerly The Lutheran Community Foundation, is pleased to announce the availability of scholarship awards from The Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of North Minneapolis Scholarship Program. These scholarship opportunities are made possible through a permanently endowed, charitable fund held at InFaith Community Foundation, established by the former congregation of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Minneapolis. Founded in 1888, Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church maintained a strong commitment to education. A school affiliated with the church was founded in the same year to provide English language and religious instruction to immigrant families. The school remained a part of the Church’s mission for nearly 100 years. At the time of the Church’s closing in November of 2001, the congregation established this Fund to provide benefit to Lutheran students who are members of the congregations within the Minnesota South District of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS). InFaith now offers this scholarship annually,
Candidates for the scholarship awards must be 1) members of a congregation in the Minnesota South District of the LCMS; 2) in their third or fourth year of full-time study at an undergraduate college or university of the LCMS, or enrolled in a full-time post-baccalaureate program at an LCMS college, university, or seminary; and 3) pursuing a career in professional ministry or lay ministry. 4) Candidates must have a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
